Prapavessi, Despina - Research Abstract
The impact of online collaboration on success and retention in online algebra classes
Two sections of the same algebra online course will be taught, one with collaborative student projects and one without. All other variables (instructor, teaching techniques, material, etc) will remain the same. For the collaborative projects, students will be assigned in groups of 3-4, according to their geographical location and the hours they are available to work together. Each group will be assigned three online projects to present in the semester. Data will be collected on the retention and success rates of the two groups throughout the term and a statistical analysis of the results will be conducted.
