Effect of Virtual Machine Technology in Enhancing Student Learning Outcomes

Next fall I will teach an advanced computer networking course both on-line and on-campus with the same laboratory projects and assessments. On-line students will have access to virtual laboratory. Students will complete a pre-course and post-course survey to evaluate their background and learning experience. Student progress will be monitored based on their performance in submitted laboratory projects and assessments. Student learning outcomes will be identified based on the basic concepts and hands-on skills that a student graduating from the class should have acquired. Final exam will address the identified student learning outcomes and will be taken by all the students.
