Arnold, Becca - Research Abstract
Evaluating the use of Interactive Mapping in Macroeconomic Courses
Preliminarily, I will develop eight interactive mapping activities. I usually teach 3-4 Macroeconomic sections a semester. The methodology follows:
- One section will be the control, and will not utilize the mapping activities, but will use traditional outside-world examples.
- Before each mapping activity, but after the related concept has been explained, a pre-test will be given to ascertain understanding of the concept.
- After each mapping activity, a similar post-test will be given.
- The tests of the control group and the mapping groups will be compared, to ascertain which mapping activities are more effective in increasing conceptual understanding.
