Sharpen your technology skills while completing fun projects that will help you and your students in 2008! The @ONE Winter Institute offers hands-on, high-quality workshops that are tailored to California Community Colleges (CCCs).  Workshops, including lunch each day, cost just $75. 

 

What’s more, you can use these workshops to boost your career. Academic credit is available for an additional $60 per unit through San Jose State University when you enroll separately and complete a small demonstration project after the Institute. Check this page for more on academic credit for professional development.

Workshop I: Introduction to Online Teaching and Learning

Are you interested in teaching online, but have never been exposed to the tools, methods, and pedagogical shift required to teach in this new context ? Learn about the tools and techniques needed with other CCC professionals in a supportive, hands-on environment.

Workshop II: Introduction to Online Teaching with Moodle

Moodle is an easy-to-use, open source, course management system for online, hybrid, or face-to-face classes. You'll discover handy tools for site, course, and student management functions, as well as tools for creating quizzes, assignments with due dates, grades, and interactive forums.

Workshop III: Vodcasting: Creating Video for Your Course/Vodcasting

Make your words and ideas come alive for your students – without using an expensive studio! Learn how to create compelling video content by recording, editing, and packaging your content in easy-to-access video files.

Workshop IV: Moving Up to Office 2007

Microsoft Office 2007 represents Microsoft’s most significant upgrade to its suite of work-related applications yet. In this workshop, you’ll learn tips and tricks in Microsoft Office 2007, with a special eye for how features work in both traditional and new systems.

Workshop V: Getting Up to Speed with Microsoft Windows Vista

Microsoft® Windows® Vista™ is the latest release in the Microsoft Windows operating system family. In this course, you will use the new features in Windows Vista to improve your workflow efficiency and productivity.

Workshop II: Introduction to ETUDES Course Management Software

This workshop will focus on an overview of the core ETUDES tools, features, and functions. The three-day hands-on workshop at the 2008 @One Winter Institute will be preceded by a one-week online portion to allow participants to apply the skills learned in a practice site.

Workshop III: Introduction to Teaching with Blackboard

Are you interested in learning how to use Blackboard to teach online? In this course, you'll experience Blackboard from both student and instructor perspectives, while creating your own online course.

Workshop IV: Podcasting: Creating and Publishing Audio Content Online

Ever wanted to broadcast course material on the Internet? Or host your own radio show? Podcasting tools have evolved to allow even the most novice of computer users to record, edit, and publish their work online.
